Retailgrid closes €358K pre-seed to bring AI to mid-market retail

Helsinki-based Retailgrid closes a €358K pre-seed to expand its AI-powered workbook for retail pricing, assortment, and forecasting across Europe.

Helsinki, 19 May 2026

Retailgrid, the AI-powered workbook for retail pricing, assortment, and forecasting, today announced the close of a €358,000 pre-seed funding round. The round was led by Finnish B2B SaaS angels Ali Omar, Henry Nilert, and Pekka Ylitalo, with participation from Innovestor Angel CoFund. The capital will be used to build out the AI Grid platform, expand the customer base across Europe, and grow the engineering and commercial team.

The problem

Retailers and FMCG companies - those with 10,000-200,000 SKUs - sit in an awkward gap. Their data lives across ERP, e-commerce platforms, market feeds, and dozens of spreadsheets. The questions they need to answer most often - what to price, what to promote, what to stock - are either handled by error-prone Excel models or outsourced to consulting projects that take three to six months and cost hundreds of thousands of euros. Enterprise pricing suites exist, but are too heavy and too slow to implement to be a real option for this segment. As a result, these companies are effectively constrained to "spreadsheet-first" operations, without the technical capacity to build custom solutions or the resources to deploy heavyweight enterprise software.

The product

Retailgrid is a cloud-based AI workbook built specifically for retail. It looks and feels like a spreadsheet, but scales to full catalogs and connects directly to the data sources retailers already use - Shopify, Magento, ERPs, and market-data feeds. Users add new columns by writing what they want in plain English: optimized prices, elasticity scores, demand forecasts, assortment recommendations, markdown candidates. The platform fills them in, and every value is explainable down to the inputs and logic that produced it.

In practice, this means a category manager can load a product file, connect a competitor price feed, and within an hour have a working pricing model - ranked recommendations, expected revenue impact, and an audit trail - without writing a formula or briefing a consultant. Pre-built agents cover the most common use cases: price optimization, sales forecasting, assortment planning, promotion analysis, and competitor monitoring.

What previously took a six-month consulting engagement happens in days, run by the same people making the decisions.

Who it's for

Retailgrid serves omnichannel retailers and FMCG brands across Europe - particularly in grocery, DIY, fashion, beauty, and specialty retail - who have outgrown spreadsheets but find enterprise software too rigid.

From the founder

"Every retailer we talk to says the same thing: we already do this in Excel - but it's breaking. Our job is to give them a tool that feels as flexible as the spreadsheet they know but actually scales with their data and their decisions. This round lets us accelerate the roll-out of this solution, and solve the pain for hundreds of mid-market retailers across Europe."
